Some screen shots from a Web conference last week by SAP at the Belgian SAP User group association SAPience.be on the current SAP UI strategy.
3 key points for me :
“All applications & UI technologies to converge to the SAP Fiori UX.”
OK Clear enough.
The SAP Fiori Launchpad, SAP Enterprise Portal and SAP Netweaver Business client continue running in parallel supporting both Webdynpro for ABAP and SAPUI5 for the moment being
In my opinion this will continue until the complete transition to S/4HANA has been finalised ( S/4HANA is not written in ABAP as far as I understand ), roadmap is 10 years long so I guess this means we have a bit of time. However do not expect innovation to come in the Web dynpro area, it will happen with SAP Fiori instead..
The SAP User Experience Strategy : New, Renew, Enable.
In the New section SAP keeps adding new SAP Fiori apps, latest count is 599 and growing by about 150 a year. Renew is about SAP taking care of “Fiorizing” existing Transactions who have a high usage ( the “low hanging fruits” ). Enable(ment) is about giving customers the possibility to “Fiorize” “their specific value scenarios”.
